2014 - Championship Game

Sunday November 2, 2014

Game Summary - The 2014 WBF Championship game was a well played exciting game from beginning to end. Both teams braved the winter-ish elements and both brought their A games. Both teams put in all on the line and left it all on the field.

The BlueJays started hot with 2 runs in both 1st and 2nd innings. RBI singles by Satruhon Ramnarayan and Ronit Ramnarayan (just in time) produced runs in the 1st inning and a solo HR by Jude Cutolo and productive out from Ryan Opak delieverd runs in the 2nd inning.

The star of the game was BlueJays starting pitcher Kemon Lardas. He kept the Dodgers at bay during his 3 inning stint only allowing 2 hits and no runs. He also had 4 strikeouts to help his cause. The BlueJays were also helped by some great defense @ 2B by Ryan Errico and his DP on a line drive and a great scoop and tag on a run-down play by Thanasi Dilos preventing the tying run from scoring in the 5th inning.

But the Dodgers didn't go down easy and got back into the game with a 3 run rally in the 5th inning. RBI hits by the Salerno twins (Joe and Tom) led the offensive attack in the inning. The Dodgers pitchers pitched great and both Gio Valerio and Luca Nitti had their usual solid outings. For the BlueJays closer John Guarneri came in to strike out the side in the bottom of the 6th inning to seal the victory for the BlueJays
